Description
This course serves as an immersive introduction into Perioperative Management, building on the foundational knowledge acquired in ST 100 Surgical Techniques. Over the next 16 weeks, students delve into the practical aspects of Perioperative Management, and an extensive 56-hour shadowing experience in the Surgical Department.
The emphasis of this course extends beyond technical skills, focusing on the development of essential professional attributes. Students will explore professionalism management, refining their understanding of ethical considerations, confidentiality, and patient-centered care. Moreover, interpersonal skills will be noted, encompassing effective communication, teamwork dynamics, and conflict resolution strategies.
By combining theoretical insights with hands-on experiences, this course aims to equip students with a comprehensive skill set essential for success in the demanding field of Perioperative Management. The immersive shadowing period offers a unique opportunity to witness and actively engage with the day-to-day responsibilities of various Perioperative Roles, providing invaluable insights and preparing students for the challenges and rewards of a career in this critical healthcare domain.
