STI Instructor Bio:

Kristin Larsen, Mathematics Instructor, has professional experience that includes both secondary and post secondary mathematics education since 2003. She earned her Baccalaureate in Mathematics from Augustana College and her Master’s of Education in Leadership in Schools from the University of Sioux Falls. She has completed graduate Mathematics courses through Nicholls State University, Louisiana and Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall. As an instructor, she teaches a variety of general education Mathematics courses.

 

Description

This course provides students with a foundational understanding of mathematical concepts and their practical applications in various technical fields. Topics include real numbers, arithmetic operations, algebraic expressions, solving linear equations, ratios, proportions, percent calculations, descriptive statistics, measurement, and applied geometry. Designed for students preparing for technical careers, the course emphasizes the development of a working knowledge of applied mathematical concepts.
