Faculty Bio:

Dustin Pepper, BSN, has worked with cardiology/telemetry patients and currently works in the Intensive Care Unit. He holds many nursing certifications in a wide variety of areas. He received his Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University, and is working towards his Master's Degree in Nursing. Dustin has taught numerous health classes at Southeast Technical Institute and holds a post-secondary credential from the South Dakota Board of Education.  He currently works as an LPN instructor.

Description

During this introductory clinical course students will observe and practice skills that are fundamental to nursing practice with an emphasis on safety, evidenced-based practice, and effective communication skills. Students will be introduced to and build upon their knowledge of nursing diagnosis, outcomes, and interventions. This clinical course allows students the opportunity to apply the knowledge they are learning in their co-requisite courses under the supervision of licensed nursing faculty. The clinical course supports the theory that students are learning in LPN 104: Introduction to Medical and Surgical Nursing as well as the skills learned in LPN 104L. Prerequisite: SSS 100, MATH 100, ENGL 101 , PSYC 101 , HC 106, HC 117, HC 118, HC 118 L
