I graduated from USD with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 2009.  I have worked clinically as a dental hygienist since 2009.  

In December 2025 I completed a Master of Education, Education Technology and Instructional Design degree at Western Governors University.

I began my career at Southeast Technical College as an adjunct Dental Assisting Instructor in 2020 and transitioned to a full-time instructor in 2023.

My office hours: 

Monday: 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm in HC 209.

Tuesday: 8:00 am to 9:00 am in the Dental Clinic, HC 242. 

Thursday: 8:00 am to 9:00 am in the Dental Clinic, HC 242.

Friday: 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the Dental Clinic, HC 242.

Description

This course will introduce the student to a brief history of the dental assisting profession, professional associations, scope of service in dentistry, and ethical, legal, and professional considerations. The state dental practice act is reviewed. Prerequisite: Submit proof of a minimum of five hours of observation of a certified dental assistant or a graduate of an ADA- accredited dental assisting program working in a dental practice. The student is responsible for arranging the observation time.
