I have been working in the Medical Coding profession for the past 10 years in a variety of different settings and roles. I am a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the AAPC and I am currently employed for a health insurance company as a Medical Coding Coordinator.

Description

This course is an in-depth look at procedural coding. Students will practice applying complicated procedural codes based on guideline and the patient health record. Focus is placed on the global surgical period and appropriate use of modifiers. The importance of ethical coding and following guidelines is promoted. Students gain practical experience using the CPT/HCPCS manuals and Encoder software. Prerequisite: CODE 112
