Southeast Technical College (STC) is committed to upholding the highest standards of legal and ethical conduct. We expect all members of the STC community to comply with STC policies, South Dakota Codified Laws, and Federal Laws and Regulations. This form is intended to encourage STC employees, students, and the public to report, in good faith, any suspected violations of STC policy, legal infractions, dishonesty, fraud, or other misconduct. Furthermore, it aims to protect individuals who make such reports from any form of retaliation.
STC will investigate all reports of alleged violations and misconduct through the Office of the President and/or the Office of Human Resources. Investigators will be trained in conducting investigations and will be free from any conflicts of interest. To ensure impartiality, STC may engage outside legal counsel or investigators. Law enforcement may be involved in cases where legal violations are suspected.
All reports received by STC, and the subsequent investigations, will be kept confidential to the extent possible. While the nature of the investigation or its results may necessitate the release of information to appropriate entities, any unauthorized disclosure of information related to the report or investigation by STC personnel will be treated as a serious offense and may result in disciplinary action.
STC will make every effort to ensure that individuals who report suspected wrongdoing are protected from retaliation. Any employee or student who retaliates against another individual for making a report or participating in an investigation will be subject to disciplinary action.
STC requires substantial information and evidence to conduct thorough investigations. This includes documents, witness statements, and other specific and relevant information to corroborate the allegations.
