Description

ST 212 builds upon foundational surgical procedure concepts introduced in ST 112 and prepares students to analyze and apply knowledge related to advanced surgical specialties, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, peripheral vascular, and cardiothoracic surgery. Emphasis is placed on understanding anatomy, pathophysiology, surgical indications, patient preparation, procedural steps, and postoperative considerations. Students will examine instrumentation, supplies, and surgical techniques unique to each specialty. This course fosters critical thinking and clinical reasoning by integrating anatomy and pathology with procedural application.
