This introductory clinical course provides students with immersive, hands-on experience in the perioperative environment, including rotations in the main operating room, obstetrics, and the central sterile processing department (CSPD). Over the course of 240 clinical hours, students will begin to develop the core competencies required of an entry-level surgical technologist, including sterile technique, instrumentation handling, teamwork, and patient safety. Under the direct supervision of clinical preceptors and instructors, students will build foundational skills through observation, participation, and performance in basic surgical procedures. Emphasis is placed on professional behavior, communication, aseptic technique, and the progressive development of technical proficiency in the scrub role. Prerequisite: All 1st, 2nd and 3rd ST/HC courses Corequisite: MICR 231, ST 123, ST 212
