Description

This hands-on lab course introduces foundational principles of surgical asepsis, sterile technique, and the perioperative environment. Students will apply basic instrumentation, suture handling, and operating room (OR) protocols while developing a surgical conscience and performing essential duties of the surgical technologist. Emphasis is placed on gowning and gloving, sterile field setup, safety practices, sponge and instrument counts, surgical scrub technique, and the handling of surgical supplies and equipment. Corequisite: ST 121, HC 110, HC 117
