Description
This course introduces students to the essential principles of surgical technology, focusing on the professional role of the surgical technologist, ethical and legal considerations, and effective patient care. Students will examine the characteristics and responsibilities of surgical technologists, understand the scope of practice, and explore concepts related to risk management, ethics, and professionalism in the operating room. This course also emphasizes preparing students for employment by providing strategies for job preparedness, including resume writing, interview skills, and professional conduct. Additionally, the course will address patient care needs, including vulnerable populations, emergency preparedness, and understanding the role of the surgical technologist in disaster response and the operating room environment.
