Kristin Wellnitz

Educational Background:

Kristin attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. She received a degree in Psychology, with a minor in Leadership Communications, and a concentration in Spanish. Following her undergraduate degree, she attended the University of South Dakota to pursue a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychology in Education, with specialty areas in School and Community Agency Counseling. Kristin is also a Nationally Certified Counselor.

  • Monday - 2-3 p.m.
  • Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - 10-11 a.m.
  • Monday evening - online/TEAMS

A bit about me: 

Education - Ph.D. in Human Development & Educational Psychology; M.A. in Higher Education; B.A. in Psychology; Graduate Certificate in Postsecondary Disability Services. 

Professional Background - Social services (2 years); College Student Development (13 years); Career and Leadership Development (13 years); teaching and instruction (5+ years).  

Research & Professional Interests - Career development; student success; social determinants of career wellbeing; learners with disabilities; purpose and calling. 

Why I love working with students - I absolutely love witnessing those “aha” moments! Whether it's figuring out your next steps in life or making connections with psychology concepts in class, these breakthroughs can be incredibly meaningful. Plus, some of the best ideas and most creative applications come from students!  I'm excited for our chance to learn together.
