Kristin Wellnitz

Educational Background:

Kristin Wellnitz earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, with a minor in Leadership Communications and a concentration in Spanish. She went on to complete a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychology in Education at the University of South Dakota, specializing in School and Community Agency Counseling. Kristin is a Nationally Certified Counselor. She has served  as a full-time Psychology Instructor at Southeast Technical College since December 2010.

Description

Provides the student with an introduction to the basic psychological processes underlying human behavior. Topics include the functions of the brain and nervous system, the characteristics of sensation, perception and altered states of consciousness, learning and memory, the nature of thinking skills and intelligence, theories of motivation, emotion and personality, a survey of psychological disorders and approaches to therapy, social/interpersonal relations, and practical applications.
