Description

A full-time internship to be completed at an affiliated local or out of town hospital or clinic. Students will broaden and perfect their laboratory skills through active hands-on participation in the Microbiology department. Emphasis of this course is placed on the clinical skills to perform Microbiology testing. Students will properly set up various clinical specimens for laboratory examination for culture and sensitivities. Students will perform quality control for microorganisms with accuracy. Written reports, case studies, review of current professional literature and attendance of conferences are required. As part of this course, students will be required to return to Southeast Tech campus the week of winter graduation. Students will participate in review of program course content, clinical findings and expectations, and registry preparation testing and activities. Students will present current clinical case studies and share clinical experience summaries with discussions. Prereq
