Description

Students will learn basic immunohematology blood indicators with blood transfusion and disease states. Students will learn pre and post transfusion management and services associated with antigen and antibody reactions. Related theories behind blood banking, donor and transfusion services will be discussed. Knowledge with immunohematology procedures such as ABO typing, Rh typing, identification of blood factors, antibody screens, compatibility testing, transfusion of blood and blood components, collection and storage of donor blood and quality assurance will be emphasized. Prerequisite: MLT 105, MLT 110, MLT 110L, MLT 125, MLT 125L, MLT 130, MLT 130L, MLT 135, MLT 135L, MLT 140, MLT 140L Corequisite: MLT 225L
