Description

This course will introduce the student to various types of media writing including: print and broadcast journalism, public relations, advertising in print and online media. Students will build skills in information gathering and research, interviewing, organizing data and information, writing, and revising their writing. Strategies for writing informative, persuasive, and promotional content will be stressed. Students will also critique the relevance, clarity, quality and reliability of current media writing and writing from other students in class. The mechanics of writing and AP style are reviewed. Prerequisite: ENGL 100 or ENGL 101 MATH 100 or MATH 101 or MATH 103 Successful completion of all first year Media core courses (MEDIA 115, MEDIA 117, MEDIA 125, MEDIA 127, MEDIA 128, DMP 120, DMP 150) Corequisite: MEDIA 238
