The focus of this course is to prepare Southeast Tech nursing students for basic health care skills. Students will be instructed in the following areas: communication and interpersonal skills, infection control, safety and emergency procedures, promoting client independence, and respecting client rights. Students will also be instructed in the following content areas: basic healthcare skills, personal care skills, mental health and social services, care of cognitively impaired clients, basic restorative services, and client rights.
This course will prepare Summer 2020 students to be prepared to start their LPN courses in the Fall 2020. You will not become certified as a nursing assistant but the LPN Program will do a course substitution due to the Pandemic.
You will be required to demonstrate skills on campus prior to the start of the fall semester.
