Instructional Experience:

Professionally I have been in the field of early childhood in a variety of capacities. I have worked in direct services with children (B to age 12), resource & referral services for parents, directed child care centers and implemented a parent education program. It is rewarding to work on behalf of the needs and rights of children, families and teachers.

I am passionate about teaching and have enjoyed my role as an educator in the Sioux Falls area.

  • B.S. Human Development Consumer & Family Studies with an emphasis in Family Relations; Minor in Sociology; South Dakota State University 
  • M.S. Human Development Consumer & Family Sciences with an emphasis in Early Childhood; South Dakota State University

Description

This course is directed for early childhood educators already working in the field. It will provide a leadership overview of early childhood ideals and practices. It will examine the field of early childhood including child development, observation and assessment, developmentally appropriate practices, curriculum philosophies, learning environment, and the responsibility of leaders to maintain high level standards in early childhood settings.
