Instructional Experience: 

Professionally, I have been in the field of early childhood in a variety of capacities. I have worked in direct services with children (B to age 12), resource & referral services for parents, child care programming and administration, and the implementation of a parent education program. It is rewarding to work on behalf of the needs and rights of children, families, and educators.

I am passionate about teaching others about the importance and value of the early years, and have been fortunate to be part of this field for over 30 years.

B.S. Human Development Consumer & Family Studies with an emphasis in Family Relations; Minor in Sociology; South Dakota State University

M.S. Human Development Consumer & Family Sciences with an emphasis in Early Childhood; South Dakota State University

Description

This course provides foundational knowledge of child growth and development for children 3-8 years of age that will include continued brain development and the domains of cognitive (language), social, emotional and physical development. Developmentally appropriate expectations, teaching practices, environmental considerations and the value of adult relationships will be applied. Prerequisite: ECH 101, ECH 120
