Instructional Experience: 

Professionally, I have been in the field of early childhood in a variety of capacities. I have worked in direct services with children (B to age 12), resource & referral services for parents, child care programming and administration, and the implementation of a parent education program. It is rewarding to work on behalf of the needs and rights of children, families, and educators.

I am passionate about teaching others about the importance and value of the early years, and have been fortunate to be part of this field for over 30 years.

B.S. Human Development Consumer & Family Studies with an emphasis in Family Relations; Minor in Sociology; South Dakota State University

M.S. Human Development Consumer & Family Sciences with an emphasis in Early Childhood; South Dakota State University

Description

This course focuses on effective approaches and positive guidance strategies for supporting the development for young children, emphasizing supportive interactions and developmentally appropriate environments. The course presents a means of assessment to analyze and guide behaviors. Prerequisite: ECH 101
