Instructional Experience:

Professionally I have been in the field of early childhood in a variety of capacities. I have worked in direct services with children (B to age 12), resource & referral services for parents, directed child care centers and implemented a parent education program. It is rewarding to work on behalf of the needs and rights of children, families and teachers.

I am passionate about teaching and have enjoyed my role as an educator in the Sioux Falls area.

  • B.S. Human Development Consumer & Family Studies with an emphasis in Family Relations; Minor in Sociology; South Dakota State University 
  • M.S. Human Development Consumer & Family Sciences with an emphasis in Early Childhood; South Dakota State University

Description

This course emphasizes current concepts in health, safety and nutrition related to the growth and development of young children. It blends current theory with practical applications. Information on child abuse and neglect, mental and physical health is added to the discussion, as well as how this content is addressed in state and federal licensing rules and regulations.
