I graduated from USD with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 2009.  I have worked clinically as a dental hygienist since 2009.  

I began my career at Southeast Technical College as an adjunct Dental Assisting Instructor in 2020 and transitioned to a full-time instructor in 2023.

My office hours: 

Monday: Radiology Open Lab, 7:30-8:00 am.

Tuesday: Radiology Open Lab, 7:30-8:00 am.

Wednesday: Virtual Office Hours, 1:00-2:00 pm. 

Thursday: Radiology Open Lab, 7:30-8:00 am.

Friday: Dental Materials Open Lab, 8:30-10:00 am, and 11:00-12:00 pm.

Description

This course will introduce the student to a brief history of the dental assisting profession, professional associations, scope of service in dentistry, and ethical, legal, and professional considerations. The state dental practice act is reviewed. Prerequisite: Submit proof of a minimum of five hours of observation of a certified dental assistant or a graduate of an ADA- accredited dental assisting program working in a dental practice. The student is responsible for arranging the observation time.
