Description

In this course, students will continue to build upon their skills performing echocardiograms by continuing to obtain parasternal long, parasternal short axis, and apical window views. Students will then begin obtaining views in the subcostal window to include the 4-chamber view of the heart, short axis view of the heart, Abdominal Aorta, and Inferior Vena Cava. Students will also begin to obtain images of the Suprasternal Notch where the Ascending Aorta, Aortic Arch, and Descending Aorta will be visualized. Students will obtain 2D images, 2D measurements, color doppler, and spectral doppler images and measurements. Students will focus on image optimization and full echocardiogram protocols in preparation for their clinical internship and use their critical thinking skills to demonstrate how assessment of pathologies will be done in the clinical setting.
