Description

In this course, students will learn about the different types of Cardiomyopathies that they will encounter as a Cardiac Sonographer and distinguish between echocardiographic characteristics of each. Students will learn about how hypertension can affect the heart muscle and explore the echocardiographic characteristics of those effects and how this idea is related to the Athlete's Heart, which is a finding commonly seen in Cardiac Sonography settings. There will be a deep exploration of coronary artery perfusion and different myocardial wall segments. Students will learn how to determine where each wall segment is located and how to describe wall function and how segments are scored. Students will determine how a myocardial infarct will affect the wall segments and movement, and how to perform an Exercise Echocardiogram to determine a patients' risk of infarct. The students will learn about the development and echocardiographic findings of infective endocarditis and prosthetic heart val
