Mr. Larsen has over 15 years of experience that includes aviation electronics, networking administration, system administration, and information systems security. Mr. Larsen is a STI alumni and has worked and taught in the Sioux Falls area since 2001.

Description

This course teaches the principles of network services such as web servers, secure shell, email and the ability to secure those services from unwanted outside network influence. The primary focus will be placed on LAN security, secure LAN to WAN connectivity, and securely publishing network services to the WAN. This will include starting with the basics like simplistic routers, virtual appliances, Windows servers using RRAS, and Threat Management Gateway software. Topics will include vulnerability scanning, network hardware and software firewalling, installation of various network services, and managing secure connections to those services. Prerequisite: CIS 160, CIS 171, CIS 180
